With the calendar flipping to June, attention across baseball will soon shift toward the All-Star Game. The 2026 Midsummer Classic is set to take place on July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The Milwaukee Brewers are almost certain to have multiple representatives, with Jacob Misiorowski and Brice Turang looking like strong locks for selection, while William Contreras and Kyle Harrison are firmly in the conversation as well.
One question in the coming weeks is which other Brewers can strengthen their All-Star resumes and ultimately compete for a spot on the National League roster? One player who stands out as a possibility is first baseman Jake Bauers, who has received ample playing time this year and has been producing career-best numbers.
So far this season, Bauers has delivered to the tune of a .846 OPS with nine home runs and 33 RBI. Those numbers put him in the same neighborhood as some of the National League's top producers at first base, including Braves' Matt Olson (.883 OPS, 16 HR, 45 RBI), Phillies' Bryce Harper (.868 OPS, 13 HR, 34 RBI), and Reds' rookie Sal Stewart (.827 OPS, 12 HR, 37 RBI).

Despite an impressive offensive output, Jake Bauers faces an uphill battle to become an All-Star in 2026 with a stacked NL first base group
For position players to earn the recognition of being an All-Star, they must navigate multiple rounds of fan voting to determine both starters and reserves. This differs from pitchers, who are selected through a process involving their peers and the commissioner's office.
As a result, strong performance alone is not always enough to secure a spot as a position player. Name recognition and popularity often play a significant role in the voting process, which can sometimes leave deserving under-the-radar candidates at a disadvantage compared to more established stars who receive greater national attention.
With that in mind, Bauers, who has built an early legitimate case for All-Star consideration, still faces an uphill climb in earning his first selection. The challenge may only grow as his playing time now consists of splitting reps at first base with Andrew Vaughn, who has been consistently getting on base since returning to full health, while also seeing occasional action in the outfield, which actually gives Milwaukee their best offensive lineup.
The best case may be if Bauers continues to get regular playing time and produce at his current pace, he could potentially work his way onto the roster as a deserving reserve when the All-Star teams are ultimately finalized, but earning the honor through traditional voting will require a blistering month of June for the lefty slugger.
