Throughout the years, the Milwaukee Brewers have seen plenty of infectious personalities come through their clubhouse. From the unmatched energy of Brent Suter to Nyjer Morgan's alter ego "Tony Plush" to the ever-present positive vibes that Willy Adames brought, there's no shortage of former Brewers who captivated the Milwaukee faithful and instantly became fan favorites.
One such player who falls into that category announced his retirement from MLB just yesterday, and it immediately had Brewers fans reminiscing on the memories that he provided. Despite playing just 88 games in a Brewers uniform, Brett Phillips' tenure in Milwaukee was filled with a decades worth of viral clips that can't help but a smile on your face. Seriously, click on the link below and try to keep a straight face throughout the entire video.
Brett Phillips absolutely loses it over some jokes
If that one didn't do it, surely this next clip of Phillips squaring off with Brewers legend Robin Yount during the 2017 Fan Fest will put a smile on your face.
Listen to Brett Phillips' insane laugh during Brewers Fanfest
There are endless instances of Phillips lightening the mood in the Brewers clubhouse, during what was otherwise a pretty tense 2017 season for the Brew Crew. Milwaukee, who hadn't made the postseason since their 2011 NLCS run, came within one game of earning one of the most improbable playoff berths in franchise history.
Now, after seven seasons in MLB and an attempt to return to the majors as a pitcher, making one appearance for the New York Yankees' Low-A affiliate, the Tampa Tarpons, Phillips has officially announced his retirement from professional baseball with the following video on social media.
To my teammates, as I look back on my career I can say with certainty that you all made my time in professional baseball the most fun and I appreciate each and every one of you for how you treated and welcomed me into this game, thank you! pic.twitter.com/g7yUCgWofk

Brett Phillips retires from professional baseball, tells 2025 Brewers squad to "GO WIN IT"
Originally drafted by the Houston Astros in the 6th round of the 2012 MLB Draft, Phillips joined the Brewers' organization in what became one of the most notable trades in franchise history. In exchange for Carlos Gomez and Mike Fiers, the Brewers received Phillips, Adrian Houser, Domingo Santana, and Josh Hader from the Astros.
Phillips made his Brewers (and MLB) debut on June 5 of 2017, and collected a base hit in three at-bats against MLB veteran Jeff Smardzija. Phillips went on to play 37 games for the 2017 Brewers, collecting a solid 1.3 Wins Above Replacement (WAR), before returning for the 2018 season. With the additions of Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich during the 2017-18 offseason, Phillips was relegated to a bench role and shuttled back and forth between Triple-A and the majors for much of the season.
At the 2018 MLB Trade Deadline, the Brewers sent Phillips to Kansas City in a trade for third baseman Mike Moustakas, who played an integral role in the Brewers' 2018 postseason run. Despite being traded in the middle of the Brewers' playoff push seven years ago, Phillips maintains positive feelings towards the Brewers' organization and is rooting for them in this year's postseason. In fact, when the Brewers congratulated Phillips on his retirement on the social media platform X, Phillips responded saying "GO WIN IT GUYS!"

It's a testament not only to the Brewers organization, who so many players before Phillips have regarded as one of the best places to play in MLB, but also to Phillips himself, who easily could have sour feelings towards the team that shipped him away during one of their best seasons in franchise history. But that's not who Phillips is.
As the Brewers get ready for an important NLDS Game 2 matchup with the Chicago Cubs this evening, knowing they have their former fan favorite, Phillips, on their side is a boost of support for a team that is ready to make history.
