In the doldrums of January, it can be difficult to predict what will happen next in regard to Major League Baseball news. The biggest moves of the offseason are in the rearview, the Super Bowl is on the horizon, and Giannis Antetokounmpo still hasn't decided on his future with the Bucks.
All that is to say, Milwaukee Brewers fans have reached a familiarly unpredictable point in the offseason. With the Freddy Peralta trade saga finally reaching its conclusion, the next move that the Brewers will make is anyone's guess. Will they sign a veteran pitcher? Trade Trevor Megill? Or enter spring training with the roster as it currently stands?
Luckily, we'll always have the predictable thoughts and disrespect from national pundits to keep us riled up and fiery throughout the winter months. And, truly, MLB Network has outdone themselves this time, ranking Brice Turang as the 10th-best second baseman in the league and fourth-best in the NL Central.

MLB Network gives Brewers, Brice Turang ultimate disrespect in latest 2B rankings
Now, before anyone really loses their cool, there's no person behind this list. It's MLB Network's agnostic prediction robot "The Shredder." They don't even appear to take the thing too seriously on the network; this is the same model that suggested Carlos Rodon would win a Cy Young Award back in 2023.
Still, this is just laughable. The NL Central is home to a duo of All-Star second basemen, but the two best (Turang and Nico Hoerner) aren't among them. That didn't hurt the standing of the Chicago Cubs' keystone star on The Shredder's list, but it did knock Turang way down the list.
Which, again, is just silly. He was the only member of the roster to be named a finalist for both a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Award, hitting .288/.359/.435 (124 wRC+) while accruing seven Defensive Runs Saved. His 4.4 fWAR led the team, and you don't have to try very hard to argue that he was the best player on the best team in baseball in 2025.
And, in terms of pure value, Turang's got one heck of a case to be ranked inside the top three on that list. Among all second basemen in 2025, he ranked fourth in wRC+ (ahead of Hoerner, Brendan Donovan, and Brandon Lowe), third in fWAR (behind only Hoerner and Ketel Marte), and fourth in DRS (behind just Hoerner among NL Central contestants). He's a do-it-all star who has been far better than almost everyone ranked ahead of him on MLB Network's top 10.
Seems to me like it's time to shred The Shredder's list.
