A baseball season can be a grind. Day in and day out, players show up to the ball park, go through their routines, leave stadiums late, and work on holidays. They do this playing all over the United States and with very few off days.

As cumbersome as a 162-game regular season can be, it can be even more difficult for players to remain in the big leagues. No matter the pedigree a player has established, the game moves and changes fast. This makes recognizing and celebrating career milestones a fun aspect of the game.

Here we will look at two career milestones that Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich and pitcher Corbin Burnes could reach in 2024. We also will take a look at which other former Brewers have accomplished this.

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich is within striking distance of the 200/200 club.

Entering 2024, there are only four active players who are a part of the 200 home run and 200 stolen base club. Guardians infielder Jose Ramirez reached this accomplishment last September, joining Andrew McCutchen, Mike Trout, and Jose Altuve as the only other active players in the league to accomplish the feat. In 2024, Yelich will be looking to extend the club to five active players.

Currently, Yelich sits at 193 career home runs and 184 stolen bases, so hitting seven more long balls and 16 stolen bases should be attainable. He did spend the first five years of his career with the Miami Marlins, so even if he joins the 200/200 club he won't join Robin Yount and Ryan Braun as the only two players in franchise history to accomplish this. At this point, he has134 home runs as a member of the Brewers and 112 stolen bases.

Milwaukee Brewers ace Corbin Burnes could strikeout his 1,000th career batter in 2024.

Striking batters out has been a strength throughout Burnes's career in Milwaukee. The former NL Cy Young award winner is averaging 11 strikeouts per nine innings pitched throughout his career. Additionally, he has struck out at least 200 batters in each of the past three seasons and led the league in the category in 2022 with 243 punchouts.

Entering 2024, Burnes has 870 career strikeouts. As long as he remains healthy and a member of the Brewers through the All-Star break, 130 more punchouts is well within his reach. Should he reach 1,000 strikeouts he would become just the fourth player in franchise history to accomplish this. Pitchers ahead of him are Teddy Higuera (1,081), Ben Sheets (1206), and Yovani Gallardo (1226).

Once the 2024 season starts, these will be two milestones to keep tabs on. Baseball will be here before we know it as spring training is approximately six weeks away and Opening Day is in less than three months.
