While the Milwaukee Brewers are looking to put the finishing touches on a second straight NL Central championship, they're also taking the time to take a look at some younger players in the organization now that rosters are able to expand.

They were recenty able to give a chance to the appropriately named outfielder Brewer Hicklen when he was called up to the majors for the first time. He earned his first playing time for the Crew over the last week after killing it at Triple-A and even logged his first career stolen base on Friday night.

With the Brewers looking to take the rubber match of their current home series against the Rockies on Sunday, they made another roster move in the morning before the game. As a result, another young player will get a chance to show his stuff for Milwaukee.

The Brewers selected the contract of Triple-A utility man Isaac Collins on Sunday.

Hicklen got a look with the Brewers because he was one of the strongest offensive players for the Triple-A Nashville Sounds this season. Because of his own production, it was only a matter of time before Isaac Collins got a look himself.

The Maple Grove, MN native was a ninth round pick of the Rockies back in 2019 but was selected from them by the Brewers during the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft two offseasons ago. He spent most of his first season in the organization at Double-A Biloxi before heading to Nashville full time in 2024.

Collins has been good all around for the Sounds this season, slashing .273/.386/.475 (.861 OPS) in 113 games with 28 doubles, seven triples, and 14 homers. He also has 24 stolen bases in 29 attempts and a strikeout rate just shy of 20 percent (19.2%).

Two moves were made to accommodate Collins on the roster. Hicklen was optioned down to Triple-A to make room on the active roster and Christian Yelich, who underwent successful back surgery, was transferred to the 60-day IL to make room on the 40-man roster.

Collins will get an opportunity to make an immediate impact for the Brewers. Manager Pat Murphy has the rookie in the lineup right away on Sunday, batting eighth and playing left field.
