The MLB All-Star Futures Game has become a big feature of the mid-summer festivities, allowing some of the games brightest young stars to show off their skills before they arrive in the Majors. It is the 25th annual showcase and the Milwaukee Brewers representative in Arlington, Texas will be shortstop Cooper Pratt.

The seven-inning game will take place on July 13 with the Brewers 4th ranked prospect joining up with fellow National League prospects under the management of Hall of Famer Adrian Beltré. Recently, he featured in the MLB Pipeline Top 100 prospect list as the 96th ranked prospect, joining fellow Brewers' Jeferson Quero, Jacob Misiorowski and Tyler Black on the list.

Cooper Pratt will represent the Brewers in the All-Star Futures Game

Pratt was drafted in the sixth round of last year's Draft out of a Mississippi high school. and has spent this season playing for the Low-A Carolina Mudcats. The 6-foot-4 righty has played in 59 games this season, registering two home runs, 31 RBIs and 19 stolen bases on a slash line of .313/.411/.403 and an OPS of .814. He's reached base in 35 straight games and reached base in 47 of his last 48 games. Those stats show he is already hitting at an advanced level and still at just aged 19, there is huge potential with him at the plate.

The bat has been tremendous but the arm strength at shortstop is a real asset too. Instinctively, he knows where to be and has had some opportunities to play at second base too, the arm may even see him as a potential option at third base should the Brewers roster need it.

Heading into the 2023 Draft, he was the 45th ranked player by MLB Pipeline and having picked up the Mississippi Gatorade State player of the year, he has continued to develop. In May, he continued winning awards as he picked up the Brewers' Minor League Player of the Month award and has added on even more.

Over time the power will develop and so the home runs will notch up, but for his first full season in the minors the signs are promising. With his height and bat speed, we can dream about the power projection and that he could quite easily develop into a 20 homer player in the Majors.

In last year's Futures Game, the Brewers had Jacob Misiorowski and Jackson Chourio both representing the Brewers. The latter has just had a stellar June and if Pratt can follow in Chourio's shoes then they could be a real offensive duo in the future for Milwaukee.
