Brewers potential All-Star #2 - William Contreras - C

William Contreras has been an excellent acquisition for Milwaukee, providing security behind the plate but also being an offensive boost. At just 24 years old, he has a bright future ahead of him and has really locked down the starting catcher position, which the Brewers would tend to rotate between players in previous years.

He is currently batting .246, which is sixth best of all National League catchers, and has the fourth best OBP with .341 according to MLB.com. To go with this he has eight home runs, tied for third in NL catchers.

One of the downsides to Contreras' case is that there have been other catchers having tremendous seasons so far. According to FoxSports, Sean Murphy and Will Smith were leading vote getters as of 13th June so there is still time for Contreras to catch up.

Other names included Elias Diaz of the Colorado Rockies and of course J.T. Realmuto of the Philadelphia Phillies who have both had strong seasons so far. However, Contreras has been one of the more consistent Brewers players and with each team getting at least one representative, he may sneak in. The likes of Smith and Murphy have the rest of their high profile teammates to compete with, potentially leading to shocks as to who misses out come the end of June.

The opportunity for Contreras is there, his performances have been impressive, he has brought great punch to an offense that needed it and has been strong behind the plate. Their may be compeition for that place but there is no reason why he can't make a case to be on the All-Star team.
