Remembering Blake Perkins' best moments during his four-year stint with the Brewers

Over the weekend, the Milwaukee Brewers kicked off their string of deadline deals by sending outfielder Blake Perkins and right-handed reliever Craig Yoho to the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for catcher Bo Naylor and right-hander Codi Heuer. The deal came as a surprise to many Brewers fans, who weren't necessarily expecting the front office to add more catching depth to the organization.

Though Yoho is a polarizing profile, with his potential and the Brewers' apparent internal evaluation of the young right-handed reliever seemingly not lining up, it was clear that Perkins was being squeezed out of a roster spot in Milwaukee, making his departure less of a surprise. Perkins' Brewers career began in November 2022, when he signed a major league contract as a free agent despite not yet playing a single inning in MLB -- a vote of confidence in Perkins' abilities from the Brewers' front office. After making his debut in April, Perkins appeared in 67 games in his rookie season and posted a solid 1.1 bWAR. Perkins' first career home run, which came on June 3 of his rookie year, was one to remember -- a Grand Slam against the NL Central rival Cincinnati Reds in a game the Brewers ended up winning by two runs.

In 2024, Garrett Mitchell fracturing his hand opened the door for Perkins to make his mark. He quickly established himself as one of the game's premier defensive center fielders, routinely making improbable catches with ease and showing a knack for bringing baseballs back into the ballpark.

One of his most memorable performances came on May 29, 2024, against the rival Chicago Cubs. Perkins robbed Christopher Morel of a home run with a spectacular catch before later going deep himself, turning in a standout all-around performance.

In 2025, Perkins suffered a fractured shin during Spring Training that sidelined him until mid-July. Upon returning, Perkins wasted no time making an impact. On July 27, he delivered a walk-off single in the ninth inning to lift the Brewers to victory. Just a few weeks later, on August 8, he preserved a Trevor Megill save by throwing out the potential tying run at home plate for the game's final out, marking the second time he did that with Milwaukee, with the first coming during the 2024 season against the Reds.

Even though his role was limited this season, Perkins still added one more highlight to his Brewers career by robbing Jahmai Jones of the Detroit Tigers of a home run early in the year. It was a fitting final defensive gem to cap off a memorable four-year run in Milwaukee.
