Heading into the 2024 MLB season, the Milwaukee Brewers rotation had plenty of questions with Corbin Burnes being traded away and the news of Brandon Woodruff being out for the season. Freddy Peralta was the ace but behind him was a constant mix with the Brewers throwing 17 different starting pitchers out during the regular season.

Now with the offseason already underway and unlikely to deal one of your starters, Milwaukee will have Peralta and Woodruff back to lead the rotation with a number of highly rated pitching prospects coming through that could find their way into the majors. Logan Henderson is perhaps a more under-the-radar pitcher but the Brewers 11th ranked prospect has shown he has the tools to be a boost to the starting rotation in 2025.

Logan Henderson could be a key piece of the Brewers' rotation in 2025

The right-handed pitcher was drafted back in 2021 and in 2024 flew through the minor leagues to play Double-A and then clock up six starts on the mound in Triple-A. Across three levels in the minors, Henderson has a 3.22 ERA in 81.1 innings, striking out 104 batters and giving up just 30 earned runs.

Most of his time in 2024 was spent in Double-A Biloxi where he started nine games and had an ERA of 3.30. The former Junior College World Series MVP has a mean changeup that sits around 80 mph, with the look of a fastball on release before dropping right below a batters swing. His fastball only hits the low 90s but the ability to ride up makes the combination with the changeup a truly deadly one.

Striking out opponents isn't a problem for the former McLennan (Texas) CC man as he sent 58 batters back to the dugout at Double-A and then at Triple-A he struck out 26 in six apperances. In the 23.2 innings in Nashville his ERA did jump to 4.56, but as seen with unsung hero Tobias Myers and his 4.93 ERA in Nashville, the Brewers the best around to work with a pitcher and improve their ability on the mound.

As previously mentioned, the Brewers had 17 different pitchers start a game last season with openers being used in Jared Koenig and Hoby Milner at times. The likes of Joe Ross, Wade Miley and Frankie Montas are all potentially too expensive to keep around. Dallas Keuchel was an experiement for four games before being out the door, DL Hall struggled with injuries and form whilst fellow prospects Robert Gasser and Carlos Rodriguez had opportunities in the majors.

In terms of pitching prospects, Henderson is now only behind Gasser and Jacob Misiorowski who are both likely to feature for the Brewers in 2025 and likely grab the headlines over Henderson. His command is brilliant but his health does perhaps pose some questions for how Pat Murphy will use him. The first pro spring for Henderson saw him require elbow surgery but has bounced back to show his quality. It is something the Brewers will keep their eye on but there is no doubt of his quality and command as a starter.

This offseason could see some change throughout the pitching staff for the Brewers but they have a plethora of prospects to let shine in the majors and Logan Henderson is for sure one of them.
