May was not only a successful month for the Milwaukee Brewers at the big-league level, where the team went 19-7, returned three of their key offensive contributors to the lineup, and saw Jacob Misiorowski and Kyle Harrison establish themselves as one of the best rotation duos in baseball, but it was also a successful 31 days for the organization's minor league system.

At the end of May, all four of Milwaukee's full-season minor league affiliates -- the Triple-A Nashville Sounds, Double-A Biloxi Shuckers, High-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, and Low-A Wilson Warbirds -- found themselves with a record north of .500. Just five days into the month of June all but the Warbirds, who despite being in second place in the Carolina League's North Division are 11 games back of the first-place Fredericksburg Nationals, remain squarely in contention for their respective leagues' first half titles (in minor league baseball, the season is split into two halves, and the winners of each division from each half advance to the playoffs).

Commonly cited when discussing the strength of the Brewers' farm system is the depth of talent that the organization possesses. As clearly evidenced by the success of their minor league affiliates through the first two months of the 2026 campaign, prospect evaluators were correct in their assessment of talent in Milwaukee's group of prospects.

While the Brewers' farm system as a whole remains strong, several individual performances in the month of May were worthy of recognition. As announced by the team just moments ago, infielder Andrew Fischer and right-handed pitcher Braylon Owens, both of whom currently play for the Timber Rattlers, were named the Brewers' Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Month, respectively, for the month of May.

The fact that Fischer and Owens both currently don the burgundy and tan uniforms of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers isn't the only thing that the two Brewers prospects have in common; they are also both part of Milwaukee's 2025 draft class and are therefore in their first full seasons of professional baseball.

Fischer, who the Brewers selected with the 20th overall pick in last year's draft, went on a tear at the plate in May. The left-handed hitting third baseman popped 10 homers and collected 21 RBI for the T-Rats in May, maintaining a ridiculous .674 slugging percentage during the span. On the season, Fischer already has 16 homers and nine doubles and sports a 1.056 OPS. If he can reign in his strikeout rate, which currently sits at 33.5%, Fischer should soon see a promotion to Double-A.

Meanwhile, Owens, who the Brewers drafted in the 10th round last year after the right-hander spent four seasons at the University of Texas-San Antonio, has emerged as one of the more exciting arms in Milwaukee's farm system through the first two months of the 2026 season. He's maintaining an impressive 32.1% strikeout rate through his first 45.1 innings of professional baseball. In May specifically, looking past Owens' pedestrian 4.32 ERA, the 23-year-old right-hander led all Brewers' minor leaguers with a 34.7% strikeout rate, ranked second in the Midwest League with a 1.16 WHIP, and fourth in the league in opponent batting average (.220). Owens' month was highlighted by a six-inning gem back on May 1, in which he struck 11 and allowed just one earned run on a solo homer.

Both Fischer and Owens have quickly established themselves as players to look out for in the Brewers' farm system, despite both of them being in the organization for less than one year. Fischer currently checks in at No. 6 on MLB Pipeline's list of the Top 30 prospects in the Brewers' organization, and Owens is likely to join him on that list in the near future. Wisconsin-based Brewers fans should be running to Appleton to see these two prospects play before they inevitably advance to Double-A in the near future.
