As a consolation for losing their ace in a trade with the New York Mets last week, Milwaukee Brewers fans were rewarded with plenty of coverage regarding the impressive strength of their farm system. It has often been the case in the days following the Brewers' trading away one of their star players that the conversation quickly shifts to just how bright Milwaukee's future is now that they have added more young talent to their organization. This year's installment has been no different.

Immediately after the trade went down, prospect evaluator Kiley McDaniel of ESPN made the following post on the social media platform X, serving as the first individual to point out just how strong the Brewers' farm system was with the additions of Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat.

However, while McDaniel was quick to hand the top spot on his farm system rankings to the Brewers, other indicators of the strength of Milwaukee's prospect group still had them slightly behind the top of the league.

One such indicator was MLB Pipeline's list of the Top 100 prospects in baseball, which was updated for the 2026 season just two days after the Brewers and Mets' blockbuster trade went down. Though having the most prospects in the Top 100 isn't the same as farm system rankings as a whole, and the Brewers excel in the latter because of the depth throughout their minor league affiliates, Milwaukee ended up with just five prospects in the Pipeline's Top 100, when many were expecting six or even seven.

With five Top 100 prospects, the Brewers were tied for the third-most in the league, trailing only the Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Guardians, who had seven and six, respectively. It's still an impressive spot to be, but all the talk right now is how the Brewers have the best farm system in baseball; surely they have earned more respect than what Pipeline initially gave them.

Well, yesterday, MLB Pipeline released their list of the 10 prospects who just missed out on the Top 100, and the addition changes the narrative on who has the most top-ranked prospects in baseball.

Both Jeferson Quero and Andrew Fischer named to MLB Pipeline's "next 10 prospects" list giving the Brewers seven of the Top 110 prospects in baseball

For clarity's sake, the list that MLB Pipeline released yesterday, which is free to read over at MLB.com and linked below for your convenience, is the list of prospects ranked 101-110 according to the popular prospect evaluation group. In other words, had MLB Pipeline released a Top 110 rather than a Top 100, these players would have made the cut.

Here are 10 prospects who JUST missed the Top 100 list

Appearing on the list, which is alphabetical rather than ranked from 101 to 110, are two Brewers: former Top 100 prospect Jeferson Quero and 2025 first-round pick Andrew Fischer. Seeing as neither the Mariners nor the Guardians have any players listed on the "next Top 10" list, the Brewers are now tied with Seattle for the most Top 110 prospects according to MLB Pipeline.

Quero, who was a staple on the list for the last few seasons, only missed out on the true Top 100 because of a shoulder injury that he suffered in the first game of the 2024 campaign, which has limited his formerly elite arm strength. As Ben Weinrib of MLB Pipeline notes, if Quero's arm strength returns and his pre-injury exit velocities are restored at the plate, there's no reason why he shouldn't be a true Top 100 prospect.

Meanwhile, Fischer is in a different boat entirely. His stock is rising, and it's rising quickly. Since being selected with the 20th overall pick in last year's MLB Draft, many have deemed Fischer one of, if not the best college bats of the 2025 draft. According to Weinrib, the only thing keeping him off the Top 100 list right now is uncertainty over whether he can stick at third base defensively. Because third basemen are more valuable than first basemen -- where Fischer would otherwise play -- if the first-round pick can prove himself defensively at the hot corner in 2026, he should be included on Pipeline's Top 100 in the near future.

Given the talent rising through their farm system, it remains an exciting time to be a Brewers fan. Milwaukee has qualified for the postseason in seven of the last eight seasons, and with their ridiculously talented farm system, it doesn't appear like that string of success will end anytime soon.
