August 2025 was a month that Milwaukee Brewers fans won't soon forget. A franchise record-breaking 14-game winning streak to start the month not only delivered free burgers to the Milwaukee faithful, but it also cemented the Brew Crew as the best team in baseball. In the end, even after the Brewers were forced to endure a grueling stretch of 19 games in 18 days, the team finished with an excellent 21-9 record during the month of August.
While it undoubtedly takes a team to win 14 games in a row, and certainly takes one to stay afloat during a nearly three-week stretch with no off-days, two Brewers turned in unforgettable performances during the month of August that were more than worthy of the recognition that they received from MLB.
On Wednesday morning, MLB Network announced that Brice Turang was named the NL Player of the Month for the month of August, and that his teammate, Freddy Peralta, was named the NL Pitcher of the Month. It's the first such award for Turang, and the second NL Pitcher of the Month Award for Peralta, who took home the impressive honor back in August of 2023.
Brice Turang wins NL Player of the Month in August
It was likely a tight race between Turang and NL MVP candidate Kyle Schwarber for the August NL Player of the Month Award. While Turang slugged an unbelievable 10 homers during the month, more than he hit in either of his first two seasons in MLB, Philadelphia's slugging DH, Schwarber, hit an impressive 12 longballs. That said, Turang outpaced Schwarber in nearly every other offensive metric.
With an unbelievable slash line of .343/.398/.694 during the month of August, Turang was the clear choice over Schwarber, who slashed .223/.318/.598. Not only did Turang outperform Schwarber in batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage, but the Brewers' second baseman also swiped more bases and played solid defense throughout the month, whereas Schwarber made just one start in the field during in August. Interestingly enough, in Schwarber's one start in the field during the month of August, he went 0-4 at the plate.
Turang is in the midst of a second-straight breakout season, and that's not an easy feat to accomplish, especially after the "quantum leap" that he experienced a season ago. By most metrics, Turang has actually taken a bigger step forward this year than he did in 2024, and an August NL Player of the Month Award puts an exclamation point on his exceptional performance this season.

Freddy Peralta wins NL Pitcher of the Month in August
According to Mike Vassallo, the Brewers' exceptional senior director of media relations who is constantly posting remarkable stats on the social media platform X, this is just the second time in franchise history that the Brewers have won both the NL Player and Pitcher of the Month Awards in the same month. As noted by Vassallo in the post below, the last time it occurred was during the Brewers’ magical 2008 run, when Ryan Braun and CC Sabathia took home the awards.

Peralta was virtually unhittable during the month of August. He made five starts, covering 28 total innings, and posted a ridiculous 0.32 ERA. That's the result of allowing just one earned run, a solo shot to Atlanta Braves' outfielder Eli White back on August 5, throughout the entire month. That's right, in each of Peralta's last four starts, he hasn't surrendered a single run and he's covered at least five innings in each of them.
Additionally, Peralta, whose strikeout numbers have been slightly down this season, struck out 34 opposing hitters in his five August starts, which is his highest strikeout per start number of any month this season. After allowing fewer hits (11) than walks (12) throughout the month, Peralta lowered his season WHIP from 1.14 down to 1.07 and his opponent’s batting average from .207 to .192 with his stellar performance in the month of August.
With the postseason nearing, the Brewers' ace is peaking at the right time. Regardless of how the Brewers elect to handle their pitching staff in October, having an in-form ace like Peralta to set the tone at the top of their rotation will be a huge boost towards achieving their playoff aspirations.
