It's difficult to grasp just how incredible Jacob Misiorowski truly is. The Milwaukee Brewers' young flame-thrower has not only emerged as his team's ace in the wake of the offseason Freddy Peralta blockbuster, but he's established himself as one of the most dominant pitchers in all of baseball.
Less than a year into his major league career, Misiorowski is already among the league leaders in practically every major pitching statistic. He leads all of baseball with 116 strikeouts and tops the league with a ridiculous 0.81 WHIP (walks and hits per inning pitched). Additionally, Misiorowski ranks second only to Cristopher Sánchez of the Philadelphia Phillies when it comes to ERA -- Miz currently boasts a 1.50 mark while Sánchez sits at 1.46. Any way you spin it, the 24-year-old Misiorowski is dominating his competition.
However, Miz's dominance extends past the eye-popping numbers that he's posting in his sophomore season; the Brewers' ace is setting MLB records left and right. While Miz does hold the record for the least amount of major league games played before a player's first All-Star Game appearance and is reaching new heights when it comes to strikeout numbers, a majority of the records that the young right-hander is setting are unsurprisingly in regard to velocity.
Not only has Misiorowski already eclipsed 400 pitches of 100+ mph this year, but he also entered tonight as the holder of the hardest thrown pitch by a starting pitcher in the pitch tracking era: 103.6 mph. However, heading into Miz's first start at Coors Field, which sits a mile above sea level, there was discussion that he might be able to set a new velocity record due to the slight decrease in air resistance. In the third inning of last night's game, Misiorowski accomplished the incredible feat.

Jacob Misiorowski breaks his own record for the fastest pitch thrown by a starting pitcher in the pitch tracking era
Back on May 8, in a start at American Family Field against the New York Yankees, Misiorowski threw a fastball 103.6 mph, setting a new record for the fastest pitch ever recorded by a starting pitcher in the pitch tracking era, which dates back to 2008. However, last night, while facing Colorado Rockies' third baseman Kyle Karros, Miz reached 103.7 mph, breaking his own record and setting a new, seemingly insurmountable peak for starting pitchers.
While the pitch tracking era only dates back to 2008, it's almost guaranteed that Miz is throwing harder than any starting pitcher in the history of MLB, especially when you factor in perceived velocity, which takes into account the fact that Miz releases the ball closer to home plate than any pitcher in the game. In that regard, the velocity that opposing hitters are having to time up is actually more than what shows up on the radar gun.
The velocity records are unique, and certainly make Misiorowski's starts must-watch television, but what's far more impressive is just how consistent the young flame-thrower has been this season. After concerns existed about his command and his ability to work deep into games last year, Miz has silenced every single doubt about his profile in an emphatic fashion. Brewers manager Pat Murphy alluded to this fact in his postgame interview last night, as seen on Brewers.TV, mentioning how velocity of any level can eventually be timed up, but what's stood out to him this year is Miz's ability to locate his pitches and effectively mix in his secondary offerings.
In other words, while Miz's velocity understandably grabs the headlines, his transformation into a "complete pitcher" this year is what's allowed him to be more dominant than any other pitcher in the sport in 2026. Pairing the best velocity from a starting pitcher in the history of baseball with an arsenal of lethal secondary offerings and an ability to command all of his pitches is a combination that is guaranteed to yield Misiorowski unique results as his young career continues.
