Wow. Could this day get any better? On a Friday night in July, the Milwaukee Brewers have won their fifth-straight game, climbed within one game of the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central, and now their rookie pitching sensation is headed to the All-Star Game. Yes, folks, you read that right, Jacob Misiorowski is an All-Star.

Just one year after Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes set the record for the least amount of games played prior to an All-Star selection with 11, The Miz has smashed his newly minted record by reaching the Midseason Classic in just five games, as reported by several MLB Insiders on the social media platform X, including MLB.com's Brewers beat reporter Adam McCalvy.

It's truly a shocking development, as Misiorowski debuted less than a month ago and will be honored among the leagues' best players on Tuesday when the All-Star Game takes place in Atlanta. It's fair to question whether Miz has put in the necessary time to earn an All-Star nod, but when given the opportunities, the 23-year-old flamethrower has certainly made the most of them.

Jacob Misiorowski named to NL All-Star team after just five starts

In his five (yes, five) starts this season, Misiorowski has a 2.81 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 25.2 innings pitched. He's earned four wins and has already out-dueled both Paul Skenes and Clayton Kershaw. He's already collected a five-inning no-hit outing and carried a perfect game into the seventh inning. In his last start, against the defending champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Miz collected 12 strikeouts — the most in a game by any Brewers pitcher this year.

Misiorowski was understandably emotional after the latest update to his dream start to an MLB career. While talking to Brewers reporters after the Crew's Friday night victory over the Washington Nationals, The Miz got choked up talking about what the honor means and how thankful he is for his teammates. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Todd Rosiak documented that manager Pat Murphy said the Brewers rookie was "moved" when he learned the news.

The Brewers now have three All-Star pitchers this season in Misiorowski, Freddy Peralta, and Trevor Megill. Ironically, Miz replaces Cubs pitcher Matthew Boyd on the All-Star roster, giving the Brewers and Cubs the same number of representatives at this year's Midseason Classic. Miz is not scheduled to pitch this weekend, so there's a good chance that he pitches in next week's All-Star Game, and with the massive amount of hype currently surrounding him, it would almost be shocking if he didn't.
