What makes Jackson Chourio’s 20-homer season streak even more impressive

Jackson Chourio has yet to celebrate his 23rd birthday. In fact, Chourio won't turn 23 until March, but the Milwaukee Brewers' outfielder already has three 20-homer seasons in the major leagues to his name.

On Saturday night, facing Cal Quantrill of the Texas Rangers in the bottom of the first inning, Chourio crushed a solo homer to right-center field to give the Brewers an early lead. However, Chourio's first-inning homer carried more significance than putting the Brewers ahead in their quest for a fourth-straight victory; the 396-foot laser was Chourio's 20th of the season, placing him among an elite group of players who have racked up three 20-homer seasons before their 23rd birthday.

As seen in the graphic above, posted to X by the great Dom Cotroneo, who is a must-follow for any Brewers fan, Chourio became the 17th player in MLB history to post three 20-homer campaigns before turning 23 years old. He joined Hall of Famers like Mickey Mantle, Ted Williams, and Ken Griffey Jr. as well as future Hall of Famers like Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, and Juan Soto on the exclusive list. Given the company, the future is blindingly bright for the Brewers' budding superstar.

Chourio's accomplishment, however, is made even more impressive by the fact that the 22-year-old outfielder has reached at least 20 homers in each of his first three seasons in the majors despite missing a sizable chunk of time due to injuries in each of the last two seasons. Presumably, with full seasons in both 2025 and 2026, Chourio's early-career resume would look even more impressive than it already does.

Jackson Chourio reaches 20 homers for the third-straight season despite month-long stints on the injured list in each of the last two years

Back in 2024, it wasn't a guarantee that the then-20-year-old Chourio would make the Brewers' Opening Day roster. Despite signing a record-breaking eight-year contract during the offseason, Chourio had just six games of Triple-A experience to his name when the 2023 season concluded. However, the Brewers elected to include the top prospect on their Opening Day roster, and despite a slow start to the season, Chourio unbelievably finished his rookie campaign with 21 homers. Enduring the inevitable obstacles of an inaugural season and stretch in May and June where his at-bats decreased significantly, Chourio eclipsing the 20-homer mark back in 2024 was incredibly impressive.

Then in 2025, Chourio was about to wrap an incredible month of July, during which he was maintaining a 1.008 OPS when he endured a hamstring strain and landed on the IL. Chourio had 17 homers when he was placed on the IL on July 30, and ended up missing a month's worth of games before returning to the Brewers' lineup. However, after crushing four more homers during the month of September, Chourio still surpassed the 20-homer mark once again in 2025 despite missing an entire month of the season.

Fast forward to March of 2026 and Chourio was back on the injured list, this time with a hairline fracture in his left hand that he suffered during the World Baseball Classic. That injury, which landed him on the IL just hours before Opening Day, kept him out of the Brewers' lineup until May 4, meaning, for the second consecutive season, an injury caused Chourio to miss at least one month of the season. And yet, with one month remaining in the regular season, the Brewers' budding star has once again reached the 20-homer mark.

The fact that Chourio has reached 20 homers in each of his first three seasons in the majors, especially with his 23rd birthday still on the horizon, is undoubtedly impressive. However, the fact that he's done so while missing a month of the season in each of the last two campaigns is even more incredible. It's exciting to think about what a full season's worth of games will look like for Chourio now that he has seemingly passed the early-career adjustments that were occurring during his rookie season in 2024. Already finding his name on lists with all-time greats, Chourio has quite the career ahead of him so long as he can continue to replicate the consistent production he's displayed through his first three seasons in the big leagues.
