The trade deadline is just a few weeks away, and the Milwaukee Brewers find themselves in position to make some additions to their roster. With the right offensive additions, this already dangerous lineup could go from a top 10 run-scoring unit to top five, making them one of the best in the league.

But what exactly would the everyday batting order look like if the Brewers landed some key offensive upgrades? Here’s a look at how Milwaukee’s lineup could shake out with a little help from the deadline.

What would the Milwaukee Brewers lineup look like with these impactful deadline additions?

1. Ryan McMahon - 3B

Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon has long been rumored as a trade candidate for the Brewers. He is not the most impactful offensive addition out there, as this year his OPS has dipped to .694, but batting order-wise he has appeared in 70 games this year as Colorado's third or fourth hitter.

If McMahon were to land in Milwaukee, hitting third or fourth, which is typically occupied by Jackson Chourio and Christian Yelich, is out of the question. Rather, it would make more sense if McMahon occupied a spot in the lower half of the lineup, perhaps even the same spot in the lineup that current third baseman Caleb Durbin is in, which is eighth. This would give the Brewers pop at the bottom of the order, and with Brice Turang hitting in front of him, McMahon would have plenty of RBI opportunities. But is a 6-8 hitter worth the money that McMahon is owed on his current contract? It seems a stretch for the small-market Brewers.

2. Alex Bregman - 3B

Milwaukee landing star third baseman Alex Bregman feels like a long shot, but with his agent Scott Boras seeking a massive extension from the Boston Red Sox and Bregman essentially threatening to exercise his opt-out after this season if this doesn't happen, a trade could be on the horizon.

If fortunes aligned, and Bregman became a Brewer for the rest of the 2025 season, he would undoubtedly hit third in the lineup. All but one of his games has been in this spot this year. This would likely push Chourio up to second and drop William Contreras to fifth in the batting order, making Milwaukee's 1-7 spots go Frelick, Chourio, Bregman, Yelich, Contreras, Hoskins/Vaughn, and Turang. That's a formidable lineup that could do some damage in the postseason.

3. Marcell Ozuna - DH

One way the Brewers could creatively add a bat this year is by realigning their defense and having Yelich move back to the field. This would open up the possibility of adding a new everyday designated hitter, in which Marcell Ozuna of the Atlanta Braves could be an option.

This year, Ozuna is still producing well, but his power numbers are not quite to the level of past seasons. Atlanta still has him primarily hitting third or fourth in their lineup, but with Milwaukee having him hit later in the batting order would make more sense. While Hoskins is out, he could occupy the fifth spot so that the Brewers lineup would go Frelick, Contreras, Chourio, Yelich, and Ozuna. But once Hoskins returns and takes over the fifth spot, dropping him to seventh would be ideal as Turang could occupy the sixth spot to give Ozuna more RBI chances.

With the right moves at the trade deadline, the Brewers have a real chance to transform their lineup into one of the most balanced in the National League. The lineup possibilities are endless, but the above scenarios provide a glimpse as to how the batting order could shake up with one of those additions.
