The Milwaukee Brewers are World Series champions.
Soak it in, Brewers fans. At long last, the Brewers have a World Series title. What at times felt impossible, at times felt decades away, has now happened. With the game frustratingly and unfairly stacked against them, the Brewers defied the odds and reached the promised land. The team that plays in the smallest market in baseball, the team of "Average Joes," the team of "gamers," not "Hall of Famers," is now the world champions.
However, the Brewers didn't just win the World Series; they put together one of the most dominant postseason runs in history en route to the franchise's first title. An 11-2 record, a sweep of the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS, a near sweep of the AL-best Tampa Bay Rays in the Fall Classic, and, at one point, eight consecutive playoff wins. At the center of it all, leading his team both on and off the field, was eventual World Series MVP William Contreras.

William Contreras wins one of the closest World Series MVP races in recent memory
Jackson Chourio, Cooper Pratt, Aaron Ashby, and Jacob Misiorowski all had arguments to be named the most valuable player of the 2026 World Series. Chourio now shares World Series history with Babe Ruth as the only two players to collect 10 hits in the first four games of the Fall Classic. Pratt, at one point, had six consecutive World Series at-bats with a base hit, led the team in RBI, and crushed a go-ahead homer in the 12th inning of Game 3. Ashby didn't allow a run all postseason, and in the World Series, set the record for the most consecutive scoreless postseason innings. And Miz set the tone in Games 1 and 5, rising to the occasion when his team needed him most with a pair of dominant starts.
However, it's hard to argue with the all-around performance that Wild Bill put together. Not only did Contreras collect eight hits in five games throughout the Fall Classic, with four RBI, but the All-Star backstop was also brilliant defensively throughout the series and completely changed the outcome with his elite ABS challenge success.
There's no denying that Contreras, who just completed his fourth season with the Milwaukee Brewers, is the heart and soul of Pat Murphy's squad. His energy, support of his teammates, and dedication to winning are second to none. When that mentality is combined with elite play on the field, it's impossible to deny the impact it has on a team. Therefore, while there are arguments that Pratt or Chourio or even Ashby should have raised the Willie Mays World Series MVP trophy, the right player was chosen in the hotly-contested race.
The Brewers are World Series champions, and William Contreras is a World Series MVP.
