After years of fans asking for the Milwaukee Brewers to bring back their powder blue uniforms that they donned throughout the 1970s and much of the 1980s, the team finally obliged. However, the final product is being met with mixed reactions.
When the Brewers teased the return of their powder blue uniforms for the 2026 season, with a video on social media on Wednesday afternoon, fans were immediately transported back in time to the days of Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, and Jim Gantner when the Crew was donned in baby blue from neck to toe with a yellow and blue hat to go along with it. A key part of the look were the powder blue pants, which strayed from the usual gray or white pants that a majority of uniforms included at the time.
However, when the Brewers dropped the following video of their new threads, with the help of 2025 All-Star Jacob Misiorowski, fans were quick to notice that the modern iteration of the powder blues does not include blue pants as most fans were expecting.

The lack of blue pants has resulted in mixed emotions from Brewers fans on social media. For the most part, fans seem to be appreciative of the team's return to the powder blues, and enjoy the design that the team produced for the shirts, but simply wish it was accompanied by blue pants. Take, for example, the following posts from Brewers superfans John Egan and Ryan Wentland.
I need to know who chose grey pants instead of powder blue. pic.twitter.com/aLdKCvgbEX

Not having blue pants with those jerseys bothers me more than it should

Milwaukee's lack of powder blue pants in new alternate jerseys leading to mixed reactions from Brewers fans
According to Chris Creamer of SportsLogos.net, the Brewers' new powder blue uniforms are set to replace the team's existing gray road uniforms, meaning Milwaukee will be left with their navy uniforms that say "Milwaukee" in cursive across the chest, and their new baby blue jerseys for road games in 2026. It's not yet confirmed which of the two will be the team's primary road uniforms.
All in all, most Brewers fans are excited to have their powder blue uniforms back for the 2026 season, especially considering the fact that the team is expected to retire their "Brew Crew" City Connect jerseys this offseason. However, I think it's fair to say that both John and Ryan speak for all of us Brewers fans when they say that opting for gray pants rather than powder blue ones is certainly a disappointing decision.
That said, I will still be running to the Brewers team store tomorrow, when the new uniforms go on sale, to secure a new powder blue jersey.
