In the fourth round of the 2024 MLB Draft, the Milwaukee Brewers selected power-hitting catcher Marco Dinges. The then-20-year-old Dinges had just completed an impressive first season at Florida State, playing primarily as a designated hitter. His performance was made even more remarkable considering he spent 43 days in the hospital battling hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH).

In his first year as a pro, Dinges returned to catching for the Brewers, but his bat made an impact wherever he played. The right-handed hitter posted a 1.076 OPS over his first 26 games in Low-A with the Carolina Mudcats (now the Wilson Warbirds), resulting in a quick promotion to High-A Wisconsin, where, with the Timber Rattlers, he posted a .853 OPS the rest of the way.

This year, he is picking right up where he left off.

Starting the 2026 season in High-A, Dinges homered during the Timber Rattlers’ Opening Weekend, driving in two runs in the process. The now-22-year-old hit 13 home runs across 77 games last season -- a strong pace that could have pushed him toward 20–30 homers if not for hamstring issues limiting his time on the field.

If Dinges, who is now MLB Pipeline's No. 10-ranked Brewers prospect, keeps excelling at the plate, it won’t be long before he’s challenging Darrien Miller, Eduardo Ordoñez, or Matthew Wood in Double-A Biloxi for a spot on the Shuckers' roster. That said, his development as a defensive catcher will be closely watched and could be one thing that holds him back in the short term.

Overall, Dinges’ combination of power, resilience, and early professional success makes him one of the Brewers’ most intriguing prospects. His offensive upside and ability to overcome adversity suggest he could make a significant impact in the organization in the coming years.
