Winker, Adames confrontation after bush league move fuels Brewers-Mets Game 1 drama

Postseason baseball has arrived and with it comes some seriously heightened tension. Every single play, out, and run matters and all of the players on the field know it. For the Milwaukee Brewers, that means that they had the task of keeping cool heads against the famously annoying and very chirpy all of a sudden Mets in the Wild Card round.

Things started off well for the Brewers as they staked an early 2-0 lead after Freddy Peralta had set the top of the Mets' lineup down without difficulty. However, things took an unfortunate turn in the second as not only did the Mets put up three runs to take the lead, but the bulk of the damage came via former Brewer Jesse Winker's bat.

However, Winker took it one step further as he began chirping at Willy Adames while running the bases, leading to a confrontation between the two on the field after the play ended.

Jesse Winker seems to have forgotten he sucked as a Brewer and caused quite the kerfuffle in Game One

As of the third inning, nothing more has been shared or happened as a result of this little dispute beyond Adames and Winker having some harsh words for each other. Hopefully we will find out more after the game as to what caused things to escalate, but it is pretty telling that Winker was talking smack while running past the normally pretty chill Adames and seemed to want to continue it afterwards.

Winker has a history of both sucking and responding poorly to situations. He posted a .567 OPS last season with the Brewers and Milwaukee fans made sure to voice their displeasure with Winker late in the season. Perhaps there are hard feelings on Winker's side for how his time went with the team, although the Brewers seem to have a much stronger case for having a gripe. Seriously, he sucked out loud.

Whatever the cause, this is looking like it is going to be a hard fought series with emotions running high right off the rip. One just hopes that Milwaukee just uses it as motivation to destroy the Mets instead of things escalating any further where guys might get put in timeout by the league.
