Remembering Tobias Myers’ best starts in a Brewers’ uniform

It was a brief, but memorable tenure in Milwaukee for Tobias Myers.

In the end, Tobias Myers' tenure with the Milwaukee Brewers was a brief one, but that doesn't mean it wasn't filled with its fair share of fireworks. The former top prospect who the Brewers signed to a minor league deal after his stock fell in the minor leagues broke through with an incredible rookie campaign in 2024. With a 3.00 ERA across 25 starts in his inaugural MLB season, Myers earned some consideration for the NL Rookie of the Year Award, but a stacked class consisting of Paul Skenes, Jackson Merrill, and fellow Brewer Jackson Chourio prevented Myers from being named a finalist.

That slight only served as more motivation for Myers as he entered his sophomore season in 2025. Unfortunately, an oblique strain in late March got the new season started on the wrong foot, and when Myers returned to the mound, his reduced effectiveness and the Brewers' depth at the starting pitching position made the now-26-year-old fall out of manager Pat Murphy's good graces. After being shuttled back-and-forth between Triple-A and MLB for much of the season, Myers was ultimately relegated to a bullpen role at the end of the year.

Without a clear spot for Myers on the 2026 roster, and with the right-hander possessing just one more minor league option year, the Brewers' front office elected to include him in the Freddy Peralta blockbuster as the piece to get the deal across the finish line.

Though his time in Milwaukee may have been brief, Brewers fans won't soon forget the contributions that Myers made over the last two years. Let's take a look at some of his best moments in a Brewers uniform.

3. Myers' eight-inning one-hitter in Detroit (6/7/2024)

Coming off three straight losses to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Brewers were in desperate need of a victory as they traveled to Detroit to take on the Tigers. With Myers on the bump, making just his eighth career MLB start, the Crew faced off against Reece Olson of the Tigers, who, despite having a poor record, was pitching well to start the season. Olson is a former Brewers draft pick whom they traded to Detroit in exchange for relief arm Daniel Norris at the 2021 trade deadline.

Milwaukee's offense scored five runs in the second inning, giving Myers a sizable cushion as he mowed down Tigers hitters, but that cushion could have been one run and the outcome of the game would have been the same. Myers surrendered just one hit in eight scoreless innings of work, collecting five strikeouts and three walks in the process.

The Brewers ended up winning the game 10-0 without hitting a single homer, creating a rare blip on Olson's otherwise solid three-year MLB resume. James Meeker pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Crew, surrendering one hit in the frame, giving him and Myers a combined two-hit shutout, in which the latter did the heavy lifting. The outing remains Meeker's lone MLB appearance and following the 2024 season, he joined the Staten Island FerryHawks in the Independent League.

2. Myers solidifies himself as a rotation regular with another eight-inning gem (7/10/2024)

Roughly one month after his eight-inning, one-hit gem in Detroit, Myers put on a show for the home crowd in a matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Now 15 games above .500, but coming off a 10-run loss to the Buccos in game one of the three-game series, Milwaukee needed a strong bounce-back, and Myers, with his 3.53 ERA, was just the guy they wanted on the mound.

Once again receiving early run support from his team, Myers settled in quickly and didn't surrender a hit until the fourth inning. The momentum continued, and when the top of the eighth arrived, the rookie Myers once again trotted out to the mound, now with a six-run lead to work with. Myers closed out the penultimate frame, his eighth scoreless frame of the contest, and was met with a standing ovation as he walked to the dugout. He had surrendered just four hits, one walk, and struck out six batters in his second eight-inning shutout of the season.

This time it was the recently promoted Rob Zastryzny who closed out the final frame for the Crew. The outing was the fifth installment in a streak of eight consecutive scoreless appearances that Zastryzny made to start his Brewers career.

1. Myers' spotless postseason performance (10/3/2024)

After turning to Peralta in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series against the New York Mets, and opting for Frankie Montas in Game 2, Myers was Murphy's choice for the win-or-go-home Game 3. As has often been the case in his first two seasons as the Brewers' skipper, Murphy made the right choice.

Myers tossed just five innings, which is a reflection of how pitching staffs are used in the postseason, rather than the performance the rookie right-hander was delivering; the performance Myers was putting together was spotless. Through five innings, Myers allowed just two hits, zero runs, zero walks, and struck out five. At just 66 pitches, he probably could have kept going, but the Brewers seldom let any pitcher face a lineup three times in the postseason.

Instead, Murphy turned to his bullpen, which he managed masterfully. A two-run lead with your All-Star closer, Devin Williams, on the bump is exactly where the Brewers wanted to be, but unfortunately, events transpired and the Mets won. Not to be lost in the devastation of that loss, however, is the impressive performance Myers delivered in his postseason debut.

While 2025 was a tough season for Myers, Brewers fans won't soon forget the incredible rookie season that the right-hander posted in 2024 and the solid relief appearances that he delivered at the end of the 2025 campaign. Though Brewers fans should absolutely be excited by the return that they got in the Peralta trade with the Mets, losing Myers in the deal caught the fanbase by surprise. Here's hoping for the best for Myers going forward so long as he isn't playing the Brew Crew.
