The Milwaukee Brewers' farm system is in a tier of its own. Prospect evaluators around the sport almost universally agree that, when taken as a whole, Milwaukee's group of minor leaguers is the most impressive in the sport.
It's a combination of top-tier talent like Jesús Made, Luis Peña, and Cooper Pratt, paired with a ridiculous amount of depth that makes the Brewers' farm system so impressive. Building such a strong minor league system doesn't happen by chance, but rather it's the combination of a front office who excels at drafting and acquiring talent, a player development system that the Brewers have heavily invested in over the last few years, and coaching staffs throughout the organization that share an unwavering dedication to success.
The unique organizational culture that the Brewers have cultivated is evidenced not only by the players whom the organization sticks with during rough patches, knowing that in the end, talent often wins out, but it's also clear to see when prospects who had hit a wall in other organizations join the Brewers' ranks and frequently find more success. Two Brewers prospects who epitomize these two areas of organizational success were honored with Player of the Week awards after their recent hot streaks in the minor leagues.
Damon Keith, Handelfry Encarnacion prove Brewers' minor league talent extends past their top-ranked infield group
The Brewers acquired outfielder Damon Keith from the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash considerations on March 27 -- the day after Opening Day. Keith, a 25-year-old former 18th-round pick, joined the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers and has quietly been one of the best hitters on an extremely talented roster. Through his first 14 games, Keith is slashing .371/.458/.742, good for a ridiculous 1.200 OPS. He has five homers, eight doubles, and 19 RBI during the stretch.
While Keith's been good all season, his numbers over the last week were especially strong. Keith went 8-for-20, collected two doubles and three homers, and drove in an impressive nine runs in the last week alone. His performance was good enough to earn the Southern League Player of the Week honors, making him the first Shucker to take home the award this year.

Keith has always had power throughout his six-year minor league career -- he's had double-digit homers in each of the last five seasons despite playing more than 106 games in just one of those campaigns. However, his power has never been on the level that it has been since he joined the Shuckers, who play in the notoriously pitcher-friendly Southern League. Since joining the Brewers' organization, Keith has quickly become a name to look out for as the season continues.
Meanwhile, in Low-A, outfielder Handelfry Encarnacion, who the Brewers signed as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic back in 2024, is starting to put it all together for the Wilson Warbirds. The 18-year-old Encarnacion has always possessed impressive underlying numbers -- his eye-popping exit velocities and strong plate discipline is a combination prospect evaluators love to see.
However, up to this point, the surface-level numbers have not reflected just how intriguing of a prospect Encarnacion truly is. In his first state-side professional season last year, Encarnacion started strong with a solid showing in the Arizona Complex League, but once he was promoted to Low-A, his numbers plummeted, with a .451 OPS in 28 games to prove it. Back in Low-A to start the 2026 campaign, Encarnacion was off to a slow start, but an incredible week not only righted the ship for the young outfielder, it also earned him the Carolina Player of the Week Award.

As seen in the graphic above, Encarnacion is currently riding a three-game home run streak, the most recent of which was a walk-off two-run bomb. During his impressive week, he raised his batting average from .179 to .214, his slugging percentage from .295 to .429, collected 12 RBI, and carried the Warbirds to a series win over the Salem RidgeYaks, the Boston Red Sox' Low-A affiliate. Given his underlying metrics, don't be surprised if Encarnacion's hot streak continues, and he's being talked about as one of the better outfield prospects in the Brewers' farm system by season's end.
The Brewers' farm system continues to impress, and it's not just the top-tier talent. Neither Keith nor Encarnacion are currently in MLB Pipeline's list of the top 30 prospects in the Brewers' farm system. However, both are the beneficiaries of being in an organization where the unique culture gives them an excellent chance to succeed. Keep an eye out for both Keith and Encarnacion as the 2026 season continues.
