In case you hadn’t heard, the Milwaukee Brewers are headed to the World Series for the first time since 1982. The Brewers don't yet know who their Fall Classic opponent will be in their quest for the first World Series title in franchise history -- the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians are currently tied in the American League Championship Series at two wins apiece.

After sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, Milwaukee has earned a full week off before the World Series kicks off on Friday, October 23. The extra rest, combined with home-field advantage, could certainly work in the Brewers’ favor once the Fall Classic begins.

The week off also provides an opportunity to reflect on just how well run and deep the Brewers' organization is. Milwaukee’s pennant-winning roster boasts an average age of just 27, led by 22-year-old rising superstar Jackson Chourio and 24-year-old ace Jacob Misiorowski, who will be named the NL Cy Young in a few weeks.

On top of that, the Brewers boast one of the best farm systems in all of baseball, according to several publications, headlined by Jesús Made, the top prospect in all of baseball. They also have Andrew Fischer, whose 48 home runs during the regular season led all of Minor League Baseball. Coincidentally, that was the highest total by a minor leaguer since 1982, the last time Milwaukee reached the World Series, when Ron Kittle slugged 50 home runs for the Chicago White Sox’s Triple-A affiliate.

However, while the Brewers await the start of the World Series, it was the 19-year-old Made who made headlines with a home run. In his debut game in the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), Made launched a home run in his first career at-bat. The top prospect later added a single and drew two walks, to finish the night 2-for-3 while reaching base four times.

Although Made won’t turn 20 until May 8, 2027, which is the age that Jackson Chourio was when he made his MLB debut, the noise he is making in LIDOM should remind the organization that their paths to the major leagues could end up looking remarkably similar. Chourio spent three seasons in the minors, making just six appearances at Triple-A before signing a lucrative contract and making his MLB debut the following season.

That isn't to say Milwaukee will give Made a similar contract this winter -- which would follow Chourio's timeline -- but given his immense potential, it certainly wouldn’t be surprising to see the Brewers take a similar approach with the young infielder. Through three minor league seasons, Made owns a .286/.377/.442 slash line while averaging 37 stolen bases a year. He also started taping more into his expected power in 2026, crushing 14 home runs in the traditionally pitcher-friendly Southern League.

Made’s success at the Double-A level, combined with his impressive start in LIDOM, should give the Brewers plenty of confidence in his ability to make his MLB debut at some point in 2027. Whether that happens on Opening Day following a long-term contract extension in the offseason or later on could depend in part on the looming threat of a lockout. However, regardless of the timing, Made has continued to demonstrate why he is regarded as one of baseball’s top prospects and could soon give Milwaukee yet another exciting weapon as the organization looks to keep their championship window wide open.
