After winning three straight series against division opponents, especially a heavy hitting series against the Cubs, the Milwaukee Brewers travel to the West Coast to take on the Mike Trout lead Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

It is not a common thing to see the Milwaukee Brewers travel to LA to take on the Angels very often, but Milwaukee will begin a three game series with The Halos tonight at 10 PM ET (9 PM CT & 7 PM PT).

What Will We See Tonight?

Tonight we will see Opening Day starter, Jhoulys Chacin take on Trevor Cahill.  The lineups have already been announced and here’s who will be starting for the Brewers tonight for game one of the series:

  1. Cain CF
  2. Yelich RF
  3. Braun LF
  4. Shaw 3B
  5. Aguilar 1B
  6. Moustakas 2B
  7. Grandal C
  8. Thames DH
  9. Arcia SS

So Milwaukee has their every day lineup for tonight, except with Thames batting eighth as the designated hitter.  Let’s not forget that Christian Yelich hit his 100th career home run (fifth of the year) yesterday in their win against the Cubs.  The MVP looks to continue his hot streak at the plate.

One name that has not had much luck so far this year is big man, Jesus Aguilar.  Aggy only has four hits in twenty-seven at bats (.148 AVG) with only three RBI.  Fans of Milwaukee are hoping he turns it around soon.

Next we have the Angels’ lineup with three players who are very familiar with the Brewers:

  1. Calhoun RF
  2. Trout CF
  3. Bour 1B
  4. Simmons SS
  5. Pujols DH
  6. Goodwin LF
  7. Lucroy C
  8. La Stella 2B
  9. Fletcher 3B

Obviously the biggest name in this lineup and possibly the biggest name in Major League Baseball is Mike Trout batting second and manning center field.  But the three names that are very familiar with the Brewers are Albert Pujols who has played 174 career games against the Crew and has a lifetime slash line of .329/.425/.614/1.039 with 42 HR and 142 RBI.  Tommy La Stella has seen the Brewers with his time on the North Side of Chicago and of course, former Brewers’ catcher, Jonathan Lucroy.  Lucroy was with Milwaukee for seven seasons and batted .284/.342/.436/.779 with 79 HR and 387 RBI.

What’s So Special About This Series?

This series is catching quite the buzz around the baseball world for two reasons:  Ryan Braun is returning to his home state of California and we will see superstars Yelich and Trout go head to head for three games.  People are talking about how this will be a pretty good series to watch since we could also see the match up of Josh Hader versus Trout and that will be a battle baseball fans would love to see.

The Milwaukee Brewers will play three games against the Angels before heading to the other side of town and facing off against the Dodgers.
