Brewers Pound Reds 9-5 As Bats Come Alive Finally!

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Finally someone woke up the Milwaukee Brewers bats and they took it out on the Cincinnati Red yesterday by a score of 9-5. For most of the last two weeks the Brewers have been getting wins with great pitching and little run production. Over the long haul of the season that will not win you a lot of games as you are putting to much pressure on your defense and pitching to keep you in games.
Yesterday, the Brewers got home runs from Ryan Braun and Mike Cameron to help ignite a 6 run fifth inning to power the Brewers to [...]

Hart, Fielder Power Brewers To 3-2 Win

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Home runs in recent years have been a staple of the Milwaukee Brewers and last night they used it very efficiently in a 3-2 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Prince Fielder and Corey Hart both went deep and Braden Looper pitched a good game for the Brewers, while Trevor Hoffman notched his 12th save of the season. He has not allowed a run in 14 apperances so far this year.
Braden Looper took the mound with a heavy hard as he attended the funeral of his grandfather LaVerne Looper who basicallly help him get his start in baseball. Looper made his [...]

Brewers Need Offense To Wake Up!

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Milwaukee Brewers and their fans should actually be really happy right now where their team stands. The Brewers lost CC Sabathia, Ben Sheets in the off-season and Rickie Weeks this season and others with minor injuries, but still are contending. Bill Hall and Corey Hart are struggling to hit the ball and you also need to factor that in as well.
The Brewers are hitting .225 during their last nine games which will not win you very many baseball games. The Brewers were on a long road trip and that had something to do with the problems. Bill Hall is [...]

Cards Edge Brewers 3-2 And Take Division Lead

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

The St. Louis Cardinals got some timely hitting from Nick Stavinoha who drove in two of the Cardinal runs as they edge the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 3-2. The Cards also got a great pitching performance from Todd Wellemeyer and the bullpen which is something the Cards have gotten all season long so far.
Frank Catalanotto two out triple in the fourth inning tied the score 2-2 for the Brewers, but that was all they could get against the Cards staff. In this series the Brewers have struck out a total of 27 times. When you do not put [...]

Brewers Lose 8-1 To Cards

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Adam Wainwright remembered the last time he pitched against the Milwaukee Brewers and it was not a pleasant memory. Yesterday he helped himself erase that memory of a tough loss at the hands of the Brewers earlier in the season with a home run and great pitching  to help the Cardinals to a 8-1 win.In total the Cardinals hit four home runs of Jeff Suppan who only lasted just into the third inning.
For the Brewers they could only manage six hits off of four Cardinals pitchers which did not help Jeff Suppan either. Ryan Braun left the game after getting [...]

Stormin Gorman Thomas One Of Milwaukee’s Early Stars

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers | COMMENTS: None Yet

When Gorman Thomas first came into the Major Leagues he was not a guy you thought who would have a successful career in baseball. His low batting average combined with a high strikeouts was the big knock on him and in today’s game he would have never gotten out of the minors. Luckily for Gorman Thomas though he played ball in a different era where strikeouts and batting average was really something that was low on the list of problems teams looked out. The one thing Thomas could do was hit home runs and he hit some mammoth blasts for [...]

Bill Hall’s Hit Gives Brewers Win Over St. Louis

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

Bill Hall who has been struggling all season long finally got a hit that actually meant something as he singled in the winning run in Milwaukee’s 1-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.  Hall  who was in a 1 for 28 slump finally had something to smile about as this season has not gotten off to a good start for him.
Yovani Gallardo took a no-hitter into the six inning before allowing just two hits over eight innings. Even though Gallardo did not get the win he pitched very well and the Brewers need him to keep this up.  Trevor Hoffman [...]

Brewers Get Swept By Twins

AUTHOR: kenwatkins | IN: Brewers, Game Notes | COMMENTS: None Yet

So much for inter-league play for the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend as they were swept by the Minnesota Twins. If we play like this in all the inter-league games we will not win one of them. Sunday night really was not much different then the previous two games except we were in the game a little longer Minnesota still won by a 6-3 score. Let’s get to the good points since it won’t take long to talk about that.
Mike Cameron and Prince Fielder both hit home runs  which really was all the offense we had against Twins starter Scott Baker [...]

Welcome To Reviewing The Brew Blog

AUTHOR: Zach | IN: Brewers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Welcome to Reviewing The Brew where we will be talking about the next World Series Champion or at least we hope so the Milwaukee Brewers. My name is Ken Watkins and I have been a Brewers fan since the days of the Seattle Pilots so I feel all you pain as well when it comes to rooting for the Milwaukee Brewers and will be writing this blog.
Lately though the Brewers have been moving in the right direction even though some of the moves we have made I have not agreed with, but don’t worry I will voice my opinions about [...]
